Professional Development San Diego Chapter 016 is dedicated to the professional development of its Chapter Members, as well as all security practitioners. To that end, the Chapter focuses its efforts in three key areas -- CERTIFICATION, NETWORKING, and ADVOCACY. CERTIFICATION
We encourage Chapter Members and security professionals to explore the three ASIS Board-Certified designations -- Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), and Physical Security Professional (PSP) -- and work toward gaining or maintaining their certification. We offer a free CPP Review Course, which has proven effective for many of our Chapter Members in preparting for and passing the CPP exam. We also offer free Chapter-hosted Virtual Forum educational events, where Chapter Members can not only acquire the knowledge offered in the particular session, but they can also earn .5 certification credit by attending. NETWORKING One of the best ways to advance your professional development is to make regular contact with other security professionals. San Diego Chapter 016 hosts monthly Luncheon Presentations, where attendees are not only served a timely presentation on a key security topic, but are also served a good meal along with a number of other security leaders from the San Diego area. Chapter Luncheons are normally held on the second Thursday of each month. ADVOCACY Security leaders are continuously making "the business case for security" within their organizations -- linking all aspects of security, asset protection, risk mitigation, and emergency preparedness -- to the overall business strategies for their companies. To assist Chapter Members and other business stakeholders in better understanding how security links and collaborates with other business units, supports the organization's business goals, and can add value to and contribute to the bottom line, the San Diego Chapter hosted a special panel presentation of security officers from leading San Diego area headquartered companies on Thursday, November 9, 2006.
