by Glenn YoungerSan Diego chapter chairperson, 2008 Dear Friends and Colleagues, I want to welcome you all to the ASIS International San Diego Chapter. It is my distinct honor to serve you as the chapter chair for 2008. The San Diego Chapter of ASIS International is made up of a diverse and highly competent group of people involved in security. Nearly 400 members of ASIS International call San Diego county home, and they come from every facet of the security industry. Security Directors, service providers, law enforcement, security staff, Armed Forces, facility managers, safety officers, and teachers are just a few of the many types of members we have. With such a broad and diverse membership, we will attempt to satisfy many different needs. A short outline of our initiatives and offerings: · We will offer interesting and topical speakers each month · Education to assist members in earning professional credentials · For our certified members (CPP, PSP and others) recertification credits can be earned by attending our monthly meetings · Work to develop relationships with other closely related industry groups · Help build our members personal industry networks · Position our ASIS chapter as a valuable resource for local officials · Provide the best national experts in our monthly Virtual Forum series · Keep our membership informed of legislation that may effect them or their organization · Offer access to local paid members to our entire membership list via a ListServ · Give everyone an opportunity to serve on committees and get to know others in the chapter · Offer an environment for leaning and growing our professional ability With your support and interest I feel confident that we can achieve these and many other goals in 2008. Your input is essential to our chapter. Your input allows us to learn of your specific needs and remain a valuable resource in your security career.
